Systemic Antibiotics - Quinolone
Composition
Each 100 ml infusion contains : Ciprofloxacin lactate 254,4 mg equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 200 mg.
Indication
For the treatment of severe infections in hospitalized patients in which oral ciprofloxacin cannot be administered or ineffective. The infections caused by susceptible strains such as :
- Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) including prostatitis,
- Urethritis and gonorrhoeae cervicitis,
- Gastrointestinal infection including typhoid fever due to S. thypii,
- Respiratory tract infection except pneumonia due to Streptococcus,
- Skin and soft tissue infection,
- Bone and joint infection.
Recommended Dosage
Adult :
- Uncomplicated kidney infection, upper and lower UTI : 100 mg twice daily.
- Other infections : 200 mg twice daily.
- Uncomplicated acute gonorrhea and cystitis in female : 100 mg by infusion, may be followed by oral dose.
- Patients with impaired kidney function, Creatinine clearance < 20 mg/ml : normal dose once daily.
Contraindication
Known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other quinolone derivatives. Pregnancy and lactation. Children under 12 years.
