Systemic Antibiotics – Penicillin/Cephalosporin

Composition 
Cefoperazone 1 g + water for injection 5 ml


Cefoperazone sodium is broad spectrum Cephalosporin antibiotic for parenteral use only. Cefoperazone is bactericidal agents. Cefoperazone inhibits synthesis of bacterial cell wall.


Indication

Infection caused by Cefoperazone sensitive organism : respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis and other intra abdominal infections, septicaemia, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, infections of bones and joints, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, gonorrhea, and other infection of the genital tract, prophylaxis of postoperative infection.

Recommended Dosage

Usual daily dose 2 – 4 g/daily administered in equally divided doses every 12 hours. In sever infections the dosage may be increased in total of 8 g/day in equally divided doses every 12 hours.

Contraindication

Patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin class of antibiotic.
