Systemic Antibiotics – Penicillin/Cephalosporin
Composition
Cefepime 1 gr + water for injection 10 ml
Biocepime is a sterile mixture of Cefepime HCL and L arginine. Cefepime is a broad spectrum 4th generation Cephalosporin antibiotic for i.m. or i.v. administration. Cefepime is a bactericidal agent.
Indication
Treatment of the following infection when caused by susceptible bacteria :
- Complicated upper (pyelonephritis) and lower urinary tract infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Skin and skin structure infections
- Intra abdominal infections
- Severe or complicated gynecologic infection
- Septicemia
- Empiric treatment in febrile neutropenia
Recommended Dosage
Mild to moderate urinary tract infections(UTI) : 500 mg – 1 g i.v. or i.m.
Mild to moderate infections other than UTI : 1 g i.v. or i.m. every 12 hours.
Severe infections 2 g i.v. every 12 hours
Very severe or life threatening infections : 2 g i.v. every 8 hours
Contraindication
Patients who have shown immediate hypersensitivity reactions to any component of Biocepime, the Cephalosporine class of antibiotics, Penicillins or other β lactam antibiotics. |
