Category Systemic Antibiotics - Penicillin/Cephalosporin
Composition Vial : Sulbactam sodium equivalent to Sulbactam 500 mg; Cefoperazone sodium equivalent to Cefoperazone 500 mg Ampoule : Sterile water for injection 5 ml
Indication Bactraz® is indicated for the treatment of following infections when caused by susceptible organism : Respiratory tract infections (upper & lower) Urinary tract infections Peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, and other intra-abdominal infections Skin and soft tissue infections
Recommended Dosage Adults : 2 - 4 g/day in divided doses. Doses should be administered every 12 hours. Severe or intractable infections : Increase dose to 8 g/day.
Children : 40 - 80 mg/kg body wt/day in divided doses 6 - 12 hourly. Severe or intractable infections : Increase dose to 160 mg/kg body wt/day. Doses should be administered in 2 - 4 equally divided doses.
Neonate first week : Doses given 12 hourly. The maximum daily dosage of Sulbactam in pediatrics should not exceed 80 mg/kg body wt/day. Additional Cefoperazone doses should be given separately.
IV (regular infusion) 1 g/20 mL for > 15 - 60 minutes. IV injection 1 g/20 mL administered for at least 3 minutes.
Contraindication Hypersensitivity to Penicillins, Sulbactam, Cefoperazone or any of the Cephalosporins.
