Composition

Each 100 ml infusion contains : Metronidazole 500 mg

Indication

• Urethritis & vaginitis due to Trichomonas vaginalis
• Amoebiasis (Intestinal & hepatic amoebiasis)
• Prevention of anaerobic infections after surgery
• Giardiasis due to Giardia lambiasis.

Recommendation Dosage

• Treatment of bacterial infections that have been identified

Adult :

500 mg I.V infusion every 8 hours

Children :

7,5 mg/kg body wt every 8 hours

• Prophylaxis of infections after abdominal surgery (especially colorectal) and gynaecologycal repeated every 2 hours.

Adult :

500 mg I.V infusion before surgery, then 500 mg oral dose every 8 hours.

Children :

7,5 mg/kg body wt (1,5 ml/kg body wt) every 8 hours.

Contraindication

Known hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or other Nitroimidazole derivatives. First trimester of pregnancy.
